Customer need
Atdhe Gashi Lavori Edili, a company operating in the construction sector, needed to optimize the logistics and versatility of its fleet on the job site.
Their specific request was to develop a self-levelling and lightweight screed machine that could be installed on a demountable truck body, in order to take full advantage of every possible vehicle configuration.
Engineered solution
Using a 3-axle Volvo truck, Overmat designed and installed a demountable system that allows for multiple operating configurations:
- Use of the vehicle with a body equipped with a crane, for lifting operations
- Use of the vehicle with a tipper body without crane, for transporting and unloading materials
- Use of the vehicle with a body equipped with the Overmat 13A SC system, for on-site dual-mix production of self-levelling screed and foamed concrete
The core of the solution is the fully autonomous Overmat liquid screed machine, which can operate on site without using the truck engine, thanks to a dedicated power pack.
Research, development and synergy
The project required a two-month prototyping phase, made possible through the close collaboration of the internal divisions of the Ormet Group:
- Lift&Handling: specialized in truck-mounted crane installations, managed the design and assembly of the demountable system and supplied the two truck bodies (one with crane and one without)
- Overmat: the center of expertise for screed machines, screed trucks and subfloor systems, designed and installed the dedicated screed system body for lightweight and foamed concrete
This synergy allowed the integration of multiple technologies into a single, compact, efficient, and fully customized solution.
Results
- Maximum versatility: a single vehicle capable of multiple operational functions on site
- On-site production of pre-mixed or lightweight screed
- Fleet optimization and reduced intervention time
- Compact layout: the Overmat system is installed in a 5.8 m body, ensuring excellent maneuverability even in confined spaces
Client-focused approach
This project was born from a trust-based relationship between the client and the Ormet team (L&H and Overmat), who listened carefully to the client’s real needs and translated them into a fully customized technical solution.
Specialized consulting and sector-specific expertise played a key role in the decision-making process, leading to a compact, efficient, and fully integrated system aligned with the customer’s operational requirements.
